Angela Betancourt, Founder and CEO of Betancourt Group, recently contributed a recap and reflections on The New York Times Climate Forward 2026 to SEVENSEAS Media during Climate Week NYC.

This year’s event, themed “Power Hungry,” convened leaders from climate, technology, business, media, and activism to address key questions shaping today’s climate conversation.

Angela’s article examines AI’s increasing energy demands, the debate over deep-sea mining, the significance of community involvement in climate and infrastructure decisions, and Jane Fonda’s insights on activism and collective action.

Drawing on event discussions and additional reporting, the article explores the various meanings of “power”: who produces it, who controls it, who is affected by it, and how people and communities influence climate action.
